Saturday: Heli-Yum

July 2, 2011

It’s a zillion degrees here in the mitten so I’m camping out in my nice, air conditioned house. What are you up to?

Friday, Friday (there must be a song about Friday…)- Custom Kicks

July 1, 2011

Friday! Everyone’s favorite day. In my house, it’s pizza day :)

Have a happy Pizza Day everyone!

Thursday: Emerald Fitzgerald

July 1, 2011

To be honest, I’m really not sure what this polish name is referring to. F. Scott. Fitzgerald was the 20’s and the Edmund Fitzgerald was the 70’s and this just seems like a really bad pun to be Ella Fitzgerald.

Friday Fun: Riveter Rouge

June 25, 2011

TGIF! Actually, it’s Saturday now, but whatevs. Today’s polish is China Glaze’s Riveter Rouge, from the amazing Vintage Vixen collection.

Here are Scrangie’s swatches of the Vintage Vixen collection…

And here are All Lacquered Up’s.

Have a lovely weekend!

Thursday Swatching: Strawberry Fields

June 23, 2011

strawberry fields… where nothing is real… strawberry fields foreverrrrrr…

Happy Thursday! Today’s polish is happiness in a bottle. It’s like bubblegum but with gold. Every time I see a swatch of it without knowing what the polish is I go “oh, I love that!” and then go “oh, I already have that.” Does anyone else do that, or does anyone else buy 8 different dark red shimmers because they love the color so much and don’t realize that they already have a bunch? I also have a bunch of reddish purples like Orly’s Close Your Eyes and CHI Behind Closed Doors.

Scrangie has some lovely swatches of the Summer Days collection (the collection that Strawberry Fields came from), and All Lacquered Up has nice swatches as well.

Also, for those who are not aware, clicking on an image will open it up in a new window and make it larger.

Sunday Swatches I

June 19, 2011

Happy Sunday everyone! From now on, I’ll be doing a set of swatches a week (posting a preview on Sunday and posting a new one every day) until I complete my collection, which is about 130 bottles (and I’m always adding more.) This week’s polishes:

Essie’s Dive Bar is a bluish green that’s almost black toned, but not quite. It seems to be exclusive to Essie’s mass retail carriers, like Meijer and Target. If you like deep teal shades, Dive Bar is worth the hunt.

Zoya Freja is a mid toned smokey grey. There’s not a hint of blue or black in this shade. It’s like a lighter version of China Glaze’s Black Diamond.

Sephora by OPI Set the Mood is a slightly dark pink. It’s shimmery but it has kind of a cloudy feel to it- it’s interesting. Available exclusively through Sephora.

China Glaze Strawberry Fields is a very happy medium pink with gold flecks (I believe it’s called glass flecked). It’s like bubblegum with glitter, but it’s still appropriate for grown women :).

China Glaze Riveter Rouge is a rusty red with large gold glitter flecks. It’s like a lighter, sparklier version of Foxy, from the same China Glaze collection.

China Glaze Hey Sailor! is a slightly orangey red creme. It’s a great, very classic color. It reminds me of Revlon’s Fire & Ice campaign from the ’50’s.

OPI Kinky in Helsinki is a medium pink. It’s really a fuschisa, with its slight purple tone. It’s a bit like a darker version of Set the Mood.
